Celebrating Apprentice Achievements And Career Progression

Apprentices across the Brett Group are putting their learning into practice, developing their skills and taking on new responsibilities. Their experiences show how training, combined with support from colleagues, can help people build confidence and progress in their careers.

Among those taking their next steps are Abbie Webb, who has completed her apprenticeship and is now working as a Purchase Ledger Clerk for Brett Aggregates, Harriet Brett, who has moved into a Trainee Manager role at Queen Mary, and Callum Forster, who has progressed into an Internal Sales Representative role.

Putting learning into practice

Abbie began her apprenticeship in October 2024. For her, being able to apply what she was studying to her everyday work made the experience particularly rewarding. Time set aside for training and revision helped her prepare for exams, while support from her colleagues helped her develop the skills needed for her role.

“The apprenticeship as a whole took my learning to the next level, making it a lot easier to progress within the business,” Abbie said. “Caroline and the team made my transition into my new role go so smoothly.”

Her manager, Caroline Laird, added: “Watching Abbie grow in confidence, capability, and professionalism has been incredibly rewarding. Her success demonstrates what can be achieved through hard work and determination.”

At Brett Landscaping and Building Products, apprentice Kaden Tattersall has been gaining practical engineering experience with the maintenance team. His work includes finding faults during breakdowns and planning project and installation work.

“Members of the maintenance team have taught me valuable skills to be able to complete my work as best as I can,” he said. “It’s my relationship with them that has helped me develop good team and personal skills.”

For Business Administrator Charlize Hoang, the opportunity to apply her learning to real projects has been a particularly valuable part of her apprenticeship.

“Being able to learn about business analysis, applying it to real-world projects and enacting actual change was both amazingly helpful for my learning, and professionally rewarding,” she said.
